Getting There

Classification & BarcodeClassification - check.  Barcodes - check.  Distribution stuff - check.  Blog entry to give the impression that the DVD has progressed further over the past couple of months than it actually has - check.  Now all that’s left to do before final tests and manufacture is to wait for a trademark usage approval, and I’m waiting as fast as I can for that…

Oh wow, you’re doing this thing for real. I was just going to use createspace with their cheap little “DVD compatible” logo so I wouldn’t have to buy the rights to use the DVD logo. You even went through the MPAA ratings system?!?

Yeah it’s a bit nutty, thought I might as well do the job properly though. I’m getting enough copies done for replication to be viable, which enables me to use the DVD Video logo. Dolby is the holdup at the moment though.

In Australia you’re supposed to get DVDs rated to be able to legally sell them here, although many people don’t seem to bother (or realise). The other option was to sell them overseas as “unclassified” and avoid the classification fee, but then that would cost me a lot in shipping, as well as restrict where I could sell them from. It also means I can sell it in retail stores, theoretically.

Just got the go-ahead from Dolby. :D

I’ve been waiting for so long I forgot I was waiting. Thank goodness for Google Reader remembering for me.

  5. Chris Says:

Congratulations!!!!!! Now that Dolby is out of the way, when/where will we see it available? Any other hurdles?

  6. Chris Jones Says:

A couple of smaller hurdles (ie more waiting) then it’s off to the replicators for a couple of weeks or so. It’ll be available through an online retailer.

Glad it’s moving along at a cracking pace! I look forward to the 2020 release date!

  8. Chris Jones Says:

    2020? That’s a bit optimistic… ;)

lol. Better than mine: 2075 and I’m putting that date on my trailer. My son will finish it for me….sort of father son project. You know…a mulit-generational thing. ;-)

  10. Chris Jones Says:

You’ll be regretting that when you find yourself in 2076 and it’s still not finished…
